MEET MY FRIEND – LINA

Time for a new interview. Meet my friend Lina!

I got to know Lina when I moved up to Stockholm. We had met briefly in Gothenburg thanks to mutual friends but it was in Stockholm and thanks to Amy that we started having out for real. One of the first thing we did together just us two was to run a 10k race with Nike. We ran fast together and afterwards we’re so determined to go out for a party and celebrate ourselves afterwards but ended up eating in my apartment way too tired to even move from the table. Lina is very strong and determined and she has a really funny kind of humour. She always sends me snaps that makes me laugh so much I have to screenshot. Lina is a really good listener and even if we haven’t seen each other for a while now I know she’s always there for me.

Lina, what does a regular day in your life look like?
I wake up around 7am. I don’t like to stress in the morning. However, after eating breakfast and getting ready I always, or very often end up a little bit late! I take the bus to my work at Kungsholmen in Stockholm where I am working as an executive assistant and office manager at an architectural firm. My role has developed at lot since I first started two years ago. I have very varied tasks, which changes from day to day and makes it extra fun. After work I prefer spending time with my friends and my boyfriend. I normally like to workout or take long evening walks, do some cooking and watch a series before I go to bed around midnight. For me it is also important that I have time for creativity in different ways, for example drawing or like most recently, designing and putting together a mirror box.

What’s your dream destination for vacation?
I love to travel and discover new places, all over the world and not far from home. Right now I would like to visit Portugal, which has an amazing nature, architecture and food. Another destination very high up on my wish list is Iceland, which seem to be a very cool and unique place!

What’s your best motto in life?
I do not have any specific motto. Instead I try to think about what makes me feel good and what makes me happy. I try to think about how I want my future self to be. Nina Åkestam has a very good example about this in her book “Meningen med hela skiten” where she explains an idea of picturing yourself having an inner 85-year old lady. I try to think about that when prioritizing and taking decisions in life. For me it is also important to balance logic with the gut feeling, which is not to be underestimated and never lies.

If you could meet the 16 year Lina, what would you have told her?
Believe in yourself and do not bother about what other people think. Do not feel stressed about education, work and relationships. Those things will work themselves out as life goes on.

What’s your favorite memory together with me?
Oh, that is a difficult one. There are so many! We have only known each other for about two years now but we have had so much fun and experienced a lot together. Many of my memories with you also include our friends. I will never forget our trip to Warsaw in 2015 – late nights out, dressing out in funny looking wigs, getting lost in endless parks, eating super good and cheap food and dancing to Tina Turner together with lots of laughter. However, one of my favorite memories together with you is from that short period last autumn when you lived at my place, just before you moved to Copenhagen. I loved sharing apartment and everyday life with you. I also remember that time when we ran a race together. It was the first time for both of us to run 10 k and we were so nervous when we found out that we should start in the first group together with all the athletes. But we made it through! Both in less than one hour. Afterwards we took a taxi back home to your place where we started to get dressed for a night out at Trädgården to celebrate our great achievements. However, these plans changed very abruptly when the adrenalin started to disappear from our bodies. We got crazy tired and our great plans for the night changed and instead we had to go home and sleep. Despite this I had so much fun with you, I always have. I am looking forward to continue creating these amazing and crazy memories together with you.

What’s your favorite party outfit?
Anything that glitters!! Or simply a pair of high waist, loose fit trousers in black, a nice top and boots.

What’s your favorite song?
Right now one of my favorite songs is “Passionfruit” by Drake, “Girl” by The Internet, a band I have listened to a lot since their concert at Way Out West last summer and “Cold little heart” by Michael Kiwanuka which is the soundtrack of “Big little lies”, one of my favorite series right now.

Thank you my dear Lina, I love you! If you want to see more of Lina and her days, this is her pretty Instagram.

SATURDAY BRUNCHING

This weekend Paulina was back in Copenhagen and after a fun Friday night out her and me and Elin went out for brunch on the Saturday. We went to Ibsen & Co at Gammel Kongevej because they have the best breakfast plate of them all. Can’t believe I didn’t know these two girls half a year ago, feels like we’ve known each other for such a long time.
